Occupy SF Event

This past Sunday Rachel and I were in the city to check out the Asian Art Museum and the Bay Area Flash Mob. Afterwards, we headed to Union Square to check out an Occupy SF event.  The Occupy SF website released in part the following statement about the proceedings:

"On Sunday, April 1st, in solidarity with the Western Regional Advocacy Project’s “We Won’t Get Fooled Again” National Day of Action for the rights of the un-housed, Occupy SF working groups & affinity groups are liberating a vacant building and converting it into a social center, shelter and food bank for the people. "

We only witnessed the last 20 minutes of the rally and the first part of the march out of Union Square and towards the vacant building.  I have now witnessed several protests since moving to San Francisco and I find them continually interesting.  The amount of people involved coupled with the police response and normal city bystanders make the occasions exhilarating to say the least.  I do not wish to impart my politics or opinions, but enjoy documenting the happenings and providing some first hand images of events that you might not see on a daily basis.  I have included a video below along with a few images of the Occupy SF event.  Thank you and take care.

* Update: According to an AP article, nearly 80 Occupy SF protesters were arrested yesterday (4/2/12) in the abandoned building that was the final destination of this march.
